MaMa O

My mother is coming into town THIS SATURDAY… and I couldn’t be more excited about it!!! It’s interesting because even typing that out, I realize there are people out there who would be stressed, nervous, or maybe even unhappy to say their mom is making a visit. So I’m very thankful that my mom and I have built our relationship into something I genuinely look forward to.

Truthfully, my mom and I have always worked well together. I feel like part of it is because we’re so similar — honestly, in ways I’m still discovering as we both get older! I mean, she was a cart girl/bartender at a golf course… maybe that’s where I got all my bartending pizazz from!

I try to go visit my hometown in St. Louis every so often, but it’s more rare that my mom gets to make it out here to Denver. It feels like such a different experience going to see her where I grew up versus her coming to see me where I’ve been building something. Finding my own places, becoming a “local” at spots around town, and getting to share them with someone who’s closer to me than anyone — that’s a pretty special thing.

So that’s my big plan for the morning — cleaning and preparing. Can’t have my house looking like a mess. I mean, she is a mom after all.

But we get to top it all off with a little band rehearsal tonight! Time to start hammering out the new songs and make sure we’re dialed in and ready for our live shows. More to come on that.
